Pre-Conception
Chiropractic care prior to conception promotes a more regular menstrual cycle and optimal uterine function. It prepares the body to be strong and balanced to carry the pregnancy. Some of our patients who thought they were infertile have received great results through chiropractic adjustments restoring proper nerve supply to the reproductive organs that aid in conception.
Pregnancy
With pregnancy come hormonal changes, a shift in body weight and a laxity of connective tissues causing new stresses to the lower back and pelvis. Regular chiropractic care during pregnancy helps maintain proper balance, alignment and flexibility. When the baby is comfortable, he or she can assume the optimal birthing position.
Labor and Birth
Women who get adjusted report shorter, less traumatic births. With proper nerve supply, the baby moves more easily through the birth canal.
Post Delivery
Birthing procedures can put tremendous pressure on a baby's spine. Pulling, forcing and twisting can cause injuries and stress which can lead to colic, unexplained crying, lack of appetite, frequent ear infections and breastfeeding problems. A gentle chiropractic examination is essential to determine if birth trauma to the spine is indicated.
Pediatrics
Regular chiropractic check-ups are helpful to monitor spinal developments as infants learn to sit upright, support their heads, crawl and stand. Asthma, allergies, bedwetting, poor concentration, unusual shoe wear and sports injuries are just a few of the aches and pains children experience that may be helped through chiropractic care. Many spinal problems as adults can be attributed to uncorrected spinal problems as children.
